Lynne Curran will be running courses in Tapestry weaving in her newly restored Medieval Studio in Tuscany. Chiusi della Verna is a mountain village, set below a famous sanctuary and national park.
David Swift, artist and toymaker (and pretty good cook) offers a unique insight into the delights of Italian culture and history, with guided tours to the region’s many museums and galleries, plus artists’ studios and a chance to sample local food and wine.

Rome and Pisa airports are easiest, with plentiful and cheap train connections to Arezzo railway station, and an onward local train to Bibbiena. Perugia and Forli(Bologna)airports are one and a half hour’s drive. Florence is also very convenient.
Coffee, tea and simple lunches (vegetarian) are provided in the fee. There are two mini-markets and several restaurants nearby. A selection of yarns are provided as well as an opportunity to buy additional materials from Lynne’s collection.
The two-day course is primarily a beginners’ class, a chance to learn the basic techniques of this beautiful artform, which was at its peak in the Middle Ages. Then there’s an opportunity to really develop this newly acquired skill by joining a further three-day course where you will be given a special project (or you can work on your own idea if you prefer).
Where appropriate there will be slides, videos, books and help with your designs.
You are invited to do either….or both courses.
There is generally a break in between to allow for sightseeing, or joining a ‘Swift’ tour to explore local highlights, including Arezzo’s famous antique fair. (details on request)
